less than twenty minutes (especially handy during a cookie
    emergency).

Pre-heat the oven, place the dough right from the package
to the cookie sheet and bake.  Yes, it's that simple.  Currently,
we have a good supply of Toffee Apple Crunch and they are
    really good.

Tom's uses clean, wholesome ingredients:  Whole oats,
brown sugar, butter, sugar, Toffee chips (contains almonds),
enriched unbleached wheat flour, eggs, apples, baking powder,
pure vanilla, salt, cinnamon and that's all.

A Vital Nutrient - CoQ 10

One of the most popular supplements on our shelf today is CoQ10.  Co-enzyme Q10 has been
available for almost twenty-five years.  Each year more and more research is being done on the
supplement and each year more is learned about this valuable nutrient.  Chemically, its structure is
related to that of vitamins E and K and CoQ10 possess vitamin-like catalytic functions.  It has a great
variety of effects that you should know about.  One of CoQ10's primary effects on the body is as an
antioxidant.  This means that it has the ability to protect the body on a cellular basis from what is called
oxidative or free-radical damage.  Oxidative damage can be caused from normal metabolism, smoking,
excessive alcohol consumption, or environmental issues like pollution.

CoQ10 helps the immune system by reducing free-radical damage.  The exact method is unclear, but
it has been speculated it goes something like this:  Free radicals damage tissues which are then
recognized by immune cells as "foreign".  This requires immune activation and, in turn, the release of
more free radicals.  The resulting generalized low-level inflammation finally reduces the body's immune
    response capacity.

Unlike other antioxidants, CoQ10 has the ability of being able to accept or donate an electron without
itself becoming a free radical.  CoQ10 may also inhibit certain enzymes involved in the formation of
    these free radicals.

And, while the antioxidant properties alone would make it a worthy addition to your regimine, its effects
on the cardiovascular system make it even more valuable.  In one study, patients with acute
myocardial infarction experienced a significant reduction in angina, arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeat)
and poor heart function when supplemented with CoQ10.  Another study demonstrated CoQ10's
ability to help people with angina exercise longer.

Heart failure or Congestive Heart Failure has been shown to be characterized by low levels of ATP (an
energy molecule) and CoQ10 in heart tissue.

There is, in every cell of our body, a structure called the mitochondria.  This is where energy is
created.  CoQ10 is involved in a very important part of this energy production process.  CoQ10
appears to be essential to the body's production of energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate
(ATP).  This holds special importance for the heart, which is spectacularly endowed with mitochondria
and has the body's highest concentration of CoQ10.  Since the mid-1960's, CoQ10 has been used by
doctors in Japan as a treatment for humans, in particular with regard to cardiac disorders.

Aging reduces levels of CoQ10, though the body has the ability to manufacture small amounts.  After
age 40 levels of CoQ10 generally decline and many feel this plays a role in the development of
various cardiovascular conditions.  CoQ10 is often recommended to treat congestive heart failure,
cardiac arrhythmias and ischemic injury.  These cardiovascular applications have become even more
important with the widespread prescription use of statin and other cholesterol-lowering drugs.  Statin
drugs block the body's ability to make CoQ10 which may be why they often increase muscle aches
    and weakness in many people.

There are many exciting studies showing promise for CoQ10 in the areas of tumor reduction and
cancer treatment.  There is also a lot of research being done with diabetic patients who tend to have
    lower levels of CoQ10.

If you are over 40 years old, on statin drugs or high blood pressure medication, or have diabetes you
really need to consider adding CoQ10.

    Oral supplementation of CoQ10

There is a capsule containing the dry form of CoQ10 in 30mg, 60 mg, and 100 mg strengths.
Because it is such a large molecule and not easily absorbed there are new forms of CoQ10 available.
Q-absorb is a highly bio-available form of CoQ10 and has been demonstrated to increase absorption
at least 28 percent over dry CoQ10 capsules.  I currently take one 100 mg Q-absorb every day
although I have read the some people take up to 300 mg per day.  Check out this very valuable
    supplement.

And It's Nothing to Sneeze At!

New peppers

Okay, I'll admit it:  I like pepper.  Most all kinds of pepper actually.
Black pepper, red pepper, white pepper.  I usually use the coarse
ground black pepper in cooking.  And, I always add a little extra red
pepper to chili and salsa.  Pepper grinders have not worked very
well for me.  They usually grind the pepper too fine for my liking.
Frontier Natural Products has come out with a very cool, innovative product, Gourmet Peppers of the
World.  Each bottle comes with its own the grinder built right in - and, it's adjustable.

Long Pepper (piper longum)

Long pepper was once one of the most popular spices in the word.  Long pepper was used in Europe
even before black pepper became widely available.  Grown in Indonesia, our organic long pepper is
more pungent than black pepper and has a unique fiery flavor with hints of sweetness.  Long pepper's
extra hot flavor makes it great for spicy dishes.  Many Ethiopian dishes and some Berbere blends use
    long pepper.

Sichuan Pepper (Zanthoxylum piperitum)

This gourmet Sichuan, or Szechuan, pepper is grown in China and offers an unusual, pungent flavor
that begins as warm and lemon-like with woodsy overtones, and finishes with a surprising numbing
effect on the tongue!  Its complex and unusual flavor can be used to intensify the flavor of fish, poultry,
cheese, and vegetables.  Substitute Sichuan pepper for black pepper to add an exotic twist to recipes.

Exotic Pepper Blend

This unique blend of our gourmet cubeb grains of paradise and black and pink peppercorns adds an
enchanting twist to any dish that needs an extra kick.  Coarsely grind onto sauces, meats, stews, and
    vegetables for one-of-a-kind flavor.

Flaxseed May Stop
Prostrate Tumor Growth

Duke University Medical Center scientists say flaxseed may stunt the growth of prostate tumors by
stopping the process that causes irregular cell division.  Some 160 men who were scheduled for
prostatectomies to treat prostate cancer were divided evenly into four groups one month before the
surgery and given ground flaxseed (30 grams), ground flaxseed plus a low-fat diet, a normal diet, or
only a low-fat diet.  After the procedure, the researchers examined the tumor cells to see how fast the
    cancer cells multiplied.

Tumors from the flaxseed groups grew more slowly than the control group or the only low-fat diet
group; tumors in the flaxseed with low-fat diet group grew the slowest,  The researchers suggested
that flaxseed may change how cancer cells "lump together" and may cut off the tumor's blood supply.
